Thankful Thursday #2

This week sure did go fast! And, obviously, I'm not a very prolific blogger. Hopefully that will eventually change.

So, this week I am thankful for...

  • Books and my love of reading. My world would not be the same without books.

  • Cooler days. Because even though I've been complaining about the fact that it is so damn cold this year, so late in the year, I know we'll have 95 degree days soon enough. And it kind of feels like Fall, which I love.

  • KitKats! Enough said.

  • Music. Like books, my life would not be the same without books.

  • For shows like Defiance (Syfy channel original), which I have recently started watching. It's a good show, with a good plotline, but it also serves to remind me of all the things we have and what life might be like without them.

  • For having the childhood that I had, and the exposure to the people that I did. Having had a grandmother in a wheelchair, a blind cousin and a family friend with spina bifida, I developed a compassion for people dealing with challenges.

  • The opportunity to meet all types of people and have others touch my life in all kinds of ways. The family friend with spina bifida (mentioned above) passed away last week. There was standing room only at his funeral. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his kindness rather than his handicap.

  • For having the relationship with our kids that we have, regardless of the fact that sometimes we put the "fun" in "dysfunctional".

  • For flannel shirts. Love the warmth of them and the comfy, soft feel.

  • For spiders. Ugh! I cannot believe I just typed that. But they eat mosquitoes.

  • For medicine that keeps my pups from getting heartworms. We had one dog that went through that. It was horrible for him and shaved years from his life.

  • For my new Nokia Lumia 928. Can't wait to play around with my fun new toy!

And finally....

  • For sharpies. Yeah, I said. Sharpies are awesome and great for damn near everything! And no, I am (unfortunately) not being paid to say that. But, I'm open to communication! Sharpie?

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

I used to belong to this email group about art journaling and they used to do this thing each Thursday that they called "Thankful Thursday". The idea was to think of 13 things that you were thankful for that week. It's not as easy as it sounds. Especially to come up with new things each week. But it never fails to make you look at your life and the reasons that you should be happy.

I'm thankful that....

  • My husband is finally getting serious about getting healthier. He's exercising with me more and eating healthier.

  • My husband is trying to quit smoking with me.

  • That there is only 25 days left until our vacation!

  • For my puppies! Because they always make me smile and they are always happy to see me.
  • There is a website like Postcrossing.com. It's a lot of fun to get new postcards from all over the world!

  • Even though I lost one of my best friends to cancer 8 months ago, that I have some great memories of the two of us to think about when I miss her.

  • After watching some of the most heartbreaking stories I've ever seen on shows like Grey's Anatomy, that I chose not to go to nursing school like I had planned when I was in high school. I would never have been able to maintain distance or not show emotion.

  • That I've never had to endure some of the horrific tragedies that I know others have.

  • My children, husband, parents, sister, niece/nephews and the rest of my family are all healthy.

  • For the blue skies today, the warm breeze and the bright, bright sun.

  • For colorful flowers that make me smile.
  •  For pretty butterflies.
  • For the fireflies in the summer. They are always fun to watch light up the yard or a field. And I love to see them in the fields as we drive at night, watching them blur as we drive past.

And there is my 13 for this week. I've tried to get in to the habit of doing this before, and inevitably I get busy and forget. It's such a great habit to have though, so I'm going to try again to do this regularly.

What are you thankful for?

Organization is key...I think?

I started this blog to try to keep myself accountable to my 100 in 1000 List. You can see how well that worked out.

Not that I'm not working on the list. I am. I'm just not making myself accountable to it.

I have no excuse. I'm just horrible at managing my time. I'm a procrastinator. Annnnnd, I tend to play stupid games on Facebook waaaaaay to much.

Guess I should have added "stop procrastinating" to my list. I think I actually thought about that as one of the goals, but it's not easily quantifiable. Is that the right word?

So anyway....we have been thinking about moving south. North or South Carolina is the area we're focusing on. I briefly tried to talk the husband into Tennessee but he said no. That makes me sad. I love Tennessee. I'm okay with the Carolinas though. We thought about the Myrtle Beach area, but unfortunately, there aren't many jobs in our fields. I told my husband that if I couldn't have the ocean, then I wanted the mountains, so now we're focusing on the Charlotte, North Carolina area. The husband has a brother that lives in that area, so we'd have family close by. I'm excited about this! I'm ready to gogogogo! Of course nothing is that easy, but hopefully soon! My husband asked me if I'm part gypsy.

I'm also not doing too great with the Thirty-One business. I just honestly don't know enough people. It's really a "party" type of business and nobody wants to have parties anymore! It's a shame. I know a lot of people that make really good money at it, and I really love the products. I'd love to keep selling it, but I don't know if it will work out or not. On another note...new products coming out next month! I'm excited!

And, as of today, we are officially three months out for our vacation!! Yayayay! Can't wait to hit the beach! All this white crap needs to go away.

In general, I need to be more organized. Any suggestions?
